Little Princess Watercolour Tree

"Little Princess" - Watercolour painting, detail.

A lot of my friends have been having, or shortly expecting, babies. It's hard not to feel all the maternal vibes that are radiating from everything. This cute little princess tree, complete with pink bunting and a crowned birdy came to mind.

Autumn Blaze Watercolour Painting

https://www.etsy.com/listing/253359096/autumn-blaze-original-watercolor-art
With all the changing leaves the past few weeks, I had to create a painting inspired by it. I saw this one maple tree that was turning from the outside in, the colour gradient was gorgeous! I captured it in my painting, Autumn Blaze.

It's been awhile since I have painted. It's just been hectic with wedding planning - not to mention my office is a tornado of wedding DIY's. It felt nice to open up the paint box again and get into the creative zone.

This painting is available for sale in my Etsy store, Jellybeans.

Written In The Trees: Shine

https://www.etsy.com/listing/224575911/shine-original-watercolor-painting

I would love to share with everyone a new painting I created this past weekend. 'Shine' is part of a mini-art-series I'm calling, Written In The Trees. It combines my current style, with a little twist and some new, fun elements.

"Shine" - Original Watercolour Painting
The bright colours are just in time for the 'blahiest' time of the winter season, when we are all eagerly anticipating the spring and warm sunshine.

You can find it in my online store, here.

Shine Through New Watercolour Painting

https://www.etsy.com/listing/204218687/shine-through-original-watercolor

I've added a new painting to my online store, "Shine Through." I know it's been a long while since I've added artwork, but things in the art studio having been brewing and I have lots to share in the upcoming days :)

I've always wanted to incorporate when the sun peaks through all the leaves of a tree - a beautiful summer moment - into a painting, but wasn't quite sure how to achieve the desire effect and look that I was after. Finally, after some pondering, I got the effect I wanted. The yellow to green ombre really translates my thoughts into a colourful composition.

This original painting is available for sale, here.

Even more exciting - this painting is the 'cover' for my - wait for it....... my 2015 calendar!

As well, 'Shine Through' is the month May.

It took some quality time with Photoshop, but I've put together another colourful year for everyone :)

It features a lot of new and fresh paintings - most of them never seen before and I will be sharing them with you throughout the week - so check back often if you see something on there you like but don't see in the shop. As previous years, this calendar will have a beautiful little mini art easel included with it - so you can display your months on the art easel, or you can tack/tape/magnet them to a board for a wall calendar :)

This calendar is currently in Pre-Sale. I have limited quantities, and it will begin to ship in mid-October. You can get yours, here.

Gentle Snow Winter Watercolour Painting

"Gentle Snow" - Watercolour Painting
A new painting here to share with everyone :) "Gentle Snow" came to me one morning, while I was watching the snow fall outside. It was those gorgeous, huge flakes that fall slowly - just so pretty. The contrast of those large white flakes, against the rich evergreens in our backyard was definitely something to record in watercolour.

I apologize for the 'ugly' trademark on my upper image. I usually don't trademark the images, and just post them as a lower resolution - but I've recently has issues with people using my images without permission to create and sell products - so the trademark will be one step I'm taking to try and protect my artwork.

The original painting is available for sale, here. For those who have never shopped on Etsy before, you can get $5.00 off your order for signing up, here.

Heart Strings Watercolour Painting

"Heart Strings" - Watercolour painting
I've begun to starting painting Valentine's themed watercolours. This is a "holiday" that I really love. I know that it's often regarded as a 'Hallmark' holiday - a scheme to make people buy lots of stuff. But, if you don't fall into the trap of consumerism; it can be a really cute holiday to celebrate everyone you love and spend special, quality time with them. We often just make a really nice dinner together, and then have a quiet evening with some wine. Being shift workers, it's so nice to spend time with each other.

Anyways, back to the painting :) "Heart Strings" was inspired by the Mixed Media Valentine Garland video tutorial that I shared with you all. The idea of the little birds decorating the trees with them was an adorable thought that I wanted to paint out. The whimsical branches of the tree help to bring out that magical "Disney-movie" feel to it: think Cinderella's super cute little birds twittering and flying around gracing all the trees with little hearts.

The original painting is still available in my online shop. If you miss out, I do have a few more Valentine's paintings to share :)

Snowy Evening Watercolour Painting

Today I'm sharing with you my most recent watercolour painting, "Snowy Evening". I was inspired by the way the snow looks at night, illuminating the sky as all the lights on the street try to peak through the cold haze.

I really wanted to combine vibrant colours to create a winter themed painting. Too often, they are just cooler colours, such as blues, green and neutrals. By approaching it a little differently, I could appropriately incorporate a rainbow of colours, while still giving the sense of winter and also the sense of warm coziness.

Above is out lilac tree, which I used as reference for the tree portion of the painting - branches overly draped with fluffy snow.

Under The Yellow Birch Watercolour Painting

"Under The Yellow Birch" - Original Watercolour Painting
I live near a very cottage-filled area, against one of the great lakes. I love how the cute little cottages peak out of the trees, and how they are just so colourful! Teal and yellow is always a winning colour combination too - just so happy! Painting "Under The Yellow Birch" was so much fun, and I'm very happy to share it with you!

I wish I could just go into the painting and know that this little cottage was mine, but alas I cannot. Le sigh. Hehehe. Maybe one day :)

The painting is available in my online shop.
